Capitol Park is also home to a number of memorials and monuments including a statue of Spanish missionary Father Junipero Serra, The California Veterans Memorial, and the California Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial. The Civil War Memorial Grove was created in 1897 with saplings from famous Civil War battlefields.
There are lots of benches and shaded areas making Capitol Park a great place to have a weekday lunch or to take a relaxing stroll on the weekends, when it is usually less crowded. On most weekends, you'll likely see photographers taking pictures of newlyweds and families. You can find more information about the park here: http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=495
